In pole mounted or pad mounted transformers, the LV (Low Voltage) bushing is an important insulating device.

It serves the following main purposes:

• Electrical insulation: It insulates the low voltage leads of the transformer winding from the transformer tank and the ground, preventing electrical leakage and short circuits. This ensures the safe operation of the transformer and the reliability of the power supply.

• Mechanical fixation: The LV bushing fixes the low voltage leads in position, keeping them from moving or vibrating due to external forces, which could cause damage to the leads or connections. This helps maintain the stability of the transformer's internal structure.

Moreover, the LV bushing must meet requirements such as having specified electrical strength, sufficient mechanical strength, good thermal stability, and being small sized, lightweight, and easy to maintain.

According to different voltage levels and current carrying capacities, there are various types of LV bushings, such as epoxy bushings and stud type bushings for voltages of 600V and below, and dead front bushings and live front bushings for voltages above 600V.
